A rather decent and generous (if hardly definitive) compilation put together by Empire Musicwerks, This Is Freestyle contains 16 club singles dating from freestyle's heyday as well as the successive periods of revival that followed. A handful of the selections are widely acknowledged freestyle classics, such as Stevie B.'s "Party Your Body," Lil Suzy's "Promise Me," Judy Torres' "Come Into My Arms," and Quadrant Six's "Body Mechanic," but there's too much numbingly average material here to make the whole thing recommendable -- unless, of course, you're in a pinch and happen to need a handful of the cuts here. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
