For most casual Hall & Oates fans, this little ten-track compilation will serve nicely. For the rest of us, while it contains all the really big hits such as "Private Eyes," "Maneater," "Out of Touch," "Portable Radio," etc. it is missing two essential cuts: "Sara Smile" and the studio version of "She's Gone." (The live one is included here and it sucks in comparison.) The reason these aren't here is simple: in the latter case there was a licensing issue since the studio version of the song was released on the brilliant Abandoned Luncheonette, which was issued by Atlantic, and in the case of the former it's sheer laziness. That track appeared on a self-titled album on Buddha, which is owned by BMG so there's no other excuse. Fans of the '80s hits won't be too disappointed, however, but for the observer of musical history, this set fails due to record company indifference. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi
