The feature-length animated film Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles had a difficult and fan-skeptical birth in early 2007. As one of the most popular and longest-running anime series of all time, Robotech (or Macross as it's known in Japan) had as much fan-expectation baggage to manage as the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises. Good thing that both the film and its soundtrack seemed to be able to handle the pressure. Under the careful hand of composer Scott Glasgow, this finale to the original series proved both reverent and sophisticated. From the gorgeous reprise of the original Ulpio Minucci theme, to the "leitmotiv" style of the many individual themes, to the exotic textures of ethnic instruments, Glasgow did a bang-up job with this space opera, and did a great service to both the series and its millions of fans. ~ J. Scott McClintock, Rovi
