Steve Leggett

Reggae Masters, Vol.2, like the first volume in the series, is a somewhat haphazard collection of roots reggae tracks, although this time things are a bit more in focus, with a couple of Bob Marley sides ("Lively Up Yourself," "Duppy Conqueror"), and fine songs from Toots & the Maytals ("Pressure Drop") and Jimmy Cliff ("Many Rivers to Cross"), though neither is the original version, plus a minor classic from the Heptones ("Cool Rasta"). The bonus disc reruns everything in surround sound and adds a handful of videos of Jamaican artists doing Christmas songs. Everything here is easily available elsewhere, so unless you're in the market for reggae Christmas videos, don't move mountains to find this far from essential compilation. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
