One Love collects several tracks recorded by Bob Marley and/or the Wailers for Clement Dodd and his Studio One imprint between 1964 and 1966. Marley and the group were still a good four years away from fully realizing their potential as a musical and cultural force in Jamaica, and while these sides are certainly interesting, they will probably baffle most people who buy this CD expecting a fully realized Bob Marley. In fact, Marley doesn't participate at all in some of these recordings (like "Dancing Shoes," for instance), since they were recorded while he was away on a brief stay in the United States. These kinds of poorly annotated Marley releases have flooded the market in recent years, and buyers are cautioned to do a little research to make sure they know what they're getting before plunking down any cash. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
