Following two-disc and three-disc collections of Elvis Presley's gospel material, BMG began deconstructing those sets into shorter, one-disc compilations for a budget market. One of three volumes (along with It Is No Secret and He Is My Everything), Nearer My God to Thee: The Gospel Series includes a few of Presley's sacred classics -- notably "Milky White Way," "Put Your Hand in the Hand," and "Amazing Grace" -- along with lesser-known material like "Run On" and "If We Never Meet Again." Breaking up his material in this fashion doesn't serve fans very well, though it does make sense for those who don't want to pay for or listen to a parade of 75-minute discs. ~ John Bush, Rovi
