Each volume of Thump's Lowrider Soundtracks contain 15 cuts of bass-heavy, groove-dominated hip-hop. Each of the songs have heavy bass grooves and minimal hooks, and while nothing in particular stands out on any of the volumes, it's still an entertaining series. Among the highlights on Vol. 5 are Hispanic MCs' "Why," MC Blvd's "Never Forget Who You Are," Stephanie's "Get Away," Twilight 22's "Electric Kingdom," Barkays' "Hit and Run" and Hi-C's "I'm Not Your Puppet." ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
