k.d. lang's Lifted By Love was the second single released from Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, and its dance mix topped the U.S. dance charts. This maxi-single comes with two excellent remixes of "Lifted By Love" (unfortunately, however, the album version is not included). The first is a spacy, airy, mid-tempo remix, and the second is a full-throttle, early-'90s club/house track, and both versions are highlighted by lang's soaring, glorious vocals. This single also packs a true rarity -- lang's version of the Barbra Streisand/Donna Summer classic "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)," in which the Canadian chanteuse duets with Erasure's Andy Bell. Their version is fun, to be sure, and again, pure 1990s club music, but somehow falls a little short of its promise. "Miss Chatelaine," an excellent single from lang's award-winning Ingenue, appears here in a luscious, breezy remix titled the "St. Tropez Mix." Finally, this single closes with the "Movin' Mix" of "Just Keep Me Moving," a deep house take on another song from Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, which also appears on its own respective maxi-single. This maxi-single, which comes off more as an EP than anything else, is an excellent grab bag of lang rarities, and is a must for fans of her eclectic music. Note, however, that this is by no means country music -- it is pure 1990s dance, and lang did very well by acknowledging that sector of her audience. ~ Jose F. Promis, Rovi
