If this low-priced CD ran about eight more minutes, it might merit the top rating. As it is, it's an indispensable part of any country collection, serious or not, and one of the prettiest, jumpingest records you ever heard, so infectious to listen to that it's a good thing it is a CD, because an LP of it would get worn out real quick. Good Old Fiddle Music is also the only compact disc release there is of Tommy Jackson as of early 1997, and that's a shame. This is all square-dance material, all-instrumental, bright, upbeat, exquisitely textured fiddle-driven music with lots of detectable banjo, electric guitar, etc., recorded in excellent sound -- a pity the band isn't credited and there are no notes. .. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi
