Dorrough goes from singles-pimping boss to true album artist on his second set, the well-built and entertaining Get Big. His growth as a lyric writer is notable as the numerous punch lines and boasts are well-placed, but the big win here is his ability to go deeper than before and communicate the ghetto heartache with key tracks like ?Trouble.? Still, fans who came here to party in that ?Ice Cream Paint Job? style get massive club tracks like the Nitti-produced title track plus the down-and-dirty "Hood Chick Fetish," which comes with a Yo Gotti guest shot just so things are extra dirty, extra South. A big surprise is the hypnotic bit of tranquility called ?M.I.A.,? as it uses the Auto-Tune device not for vocal perfection but for a kind of trippy, spaceman effect you?d expect more from Kid Cudi or others in the backpackers set. A triple threat of closing songs kicks off with ?My Name? and its infectious hook plus laugh-out-loud lines (?I can take you back to the Motorola pager?), then the ridiculous plus fun ?Si Si I Like? gives all a taste of a hypothetical Dorrough Tell ?Em before ?Way Better? proves the man can hold his own swaggering alongside Juvenile. Get Big indeed. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
