Ministry of Sound compiles the U.K.'s most popular dance tracks of 2001 for this collection. As a result, the mix jumps around quite a bit from one style to another, trying to make this disparate collection of styles flow seamlessly. Though the effort is noble and no doubt challenging, the mix ultimately sounds disjointed -- even the most talented DJ would struggle mixing these records together. However, if what you're looking for are the year's biggest hits in the U.K. rather than impressive mixing, this album shouldn't disappoint you. It's a revealing look at popular dance music in the U.K. circa 2001. Featured tracks include Paul Van Dyk's "Columbia," ATB's "Let You Go," Faithless' "Tarantula," Paul Oakenfold's "Planet Rock" remix, Crystal Method's "Winner," Timo Maas' "Ubik," and the Cleptomaniacs' "All I Do," in addition to others. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
