Hepburn attained international fame as a strong character actress. She won Oscars for Morning Glory, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?, The Lion in Winter, and On Golden Pond, and she is also remembered for her role in The African Queen. On Broadway she played Shakespearean roles in the 1950s, and enjoyed enormous success in the stage musical Coco.
