Synopsis: Cats and dogs reign on Xbox 360, with the animal-oriented Pets edition of Sims 3. Players design four-legged friends through an interface similar to the original Sims 3's character creator, with an abundance of sliders and selections for deep customization. Animals interact with their owners, and with each other, though recognizably authentic behaviors. Cats and dogs take on distinct personalities and become major household characters, if not full-fledged family members. Pets can be controlled directly, just as other sims characters are, using a menu of player-selected actions such as "chase" or "dig." Cats and dogs can improve their skills, and may even help their ambitious owners to find hidden treasures or solve Scooby Doo-style mysteries around town. An Xbox 360-exclusive feature allow players to direct their sim people and pets through voice commands, using the Kinect peripheral. Unlike the home computer editions, the console version of Sims 3 Pets is a stand-alone game that does not require a previous installation for play.
