Synopsis: Created especially for PlayStation Portable, Ace Combat: Joint Assault is built around the same accessible, modern flight-combat action as earlier Ace Combat games, but it is set in a different time and place -- our own. Instead of battling in alternate-reality skies above Osea or Verusea, virtual fighter pilots engage in supersonic dogfights above real-world locations including Tokyo, San Francisco, London, and Egypt. Satellite map data was used in creating the games' settings, such that players may recognize landmarks as they fly above them. The game also features over 40 licensed aircraft, designed to look and fly like their real-world counterparts. Set in a time of international turmoil, the story pits players as newly recruited pilots against a fraud-funded terrorist group that is unleashing air attacks on strategic locations around the world. In addition to the full campaign, the game features several multiplayer modes for up to eight players, with both co-op and team competition, through Ad hoc and Internet connections. ~ T.J.
