Promotions Manager - Books

As a member of the Merchandising Team, the Promotions Manager is responsible for preparing and managing all merchandising and promotional aspects for the Book department of Hastings stores; including in-store customer service standards and merchandising issues.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Manage in-store merchandising and plan-o-grams based on book department objectives and positioning vendor proposals
  • Develop and maintain departmental promotional planner/calendar
  • Manage departmental advertising strategies/objectives to ensure all activities support and/or re-enforce advertising print, direct mail, interactive advertising, and sign needs
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Advertising Department to ensure effective and quality displays and advertising
  • Review and analyze estimated sales goals to ensure minimum sales requirements are met
  • Execute/setup promotional plans
  • Work with Department Directors and Category Managers to meet deadlines

Requirements:

  • Relocation to Amarillo, TX
  • Bachelor's Degree or two years retail merchandising experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience in plan-o-gram software considered a plus
  • Multi-task oriented with a strong sense of urgency
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Inventory Control Analyst

We are seeking a self-motivated individual with the desire to successfully contribute to a team effort for the Inventory Accounting Team! As the Inventory Control Analyst, you would be responsible for assisting to achieve company financial goals by researching, reconciling, communicating, & developing inventory control procedures.

Programmer

The Programmer is tasked to support and improve our systems. These systems range from our proprietary internal systems modules to financials and e-commerce. Perform a variety of programming assignments requiring knowledge of established programming procedures and data processing requirements. Maintain and modify programs based on architectural requirements and document said changes.

Duties and Tasks, including but not limited to the following:

  • Code, test and troubleshoot programs utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming technology
  • Maintain and modify programs; make approved changes by amending flow charts, develop detailed programming logic, and coding changes
  • Test and develop programming modifications
  • Ensures efficient and productive use of labor
  • Communicates associate evaluation deadlines to the responsible supervisors in a clear and timely manner
  • Write new program code using prescribed specifications
  • Evaluate simple interrelationships between programs such as whether a contemplated change in one part of a program would cause unwanted results in a related part
  • Analyze performance of programs and take action to correct deficiencies based on consultation with users and approval of supervisor
  • Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs. Resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls
  • Write and maintain programming documentation
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed.
  • Document programming problems and resolutions for future reference
  • Work independently or as part of a team on assigned task and complete in a timely manner
  • Provide on the job training to new department staff members
  • Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported

Requirements:

Most of our systems are developed and maintained internally. Our primary database is IBM Informix but we also utilize IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008. Our systems support all aspects of the company including all programming for our retail locations, our e-commerce business and corporate systems. These applications span multiple systems and technologies that require the following:

  • Relocation to Amarillo, TX
  • High School Diploma/GED with Minimum of 2 years college or technical school background
  • Bachelor Degree in Information Systems or related degree is preferred
  • General Programming Experience including, but not limited to: Java, .NET, 4gl, Genero, C/C++, Visual Basic, or Perl
  • Effective interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a positive approach to challenge

We are seeking a motivated individual who possess exceptional technical and analytical skills to become a part of our Information Technologies Team as a Technical Leader. The responsibilities of a Technical Leader include leading a team of developers to design visual and batch software applications in a Linux/UNIX/Microsoft environment.
