Store Manager

As a member of the Store Operations Team, Hastings Store Managers are responsible for managing the store by supervising and executing corporate plans and actions as well as creating a positive team atmosphere, and increasing sales by utilizing company financial reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day store operations to achieve targeted productivity, sales, and profitability goals
  • Control staffing and turnover levels within the store
  • Actively mentor and develop Managers in Training
  • Oversee store personnel and ensure that all corporate policies and procedures are followed
  • Maintain awareness of competitors and their promotions and offerings
  • Ensure associates keep stores clean, well organized, and properly merchandised
  • Provide overall direction for the staff in terms of training and performance tracking

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management or a related field or two years retail managment experience
  • Experience in a specialty chain, discount, department, or other mass merchandising store
  • Proven track record of sales, growth, and results
  • Strong leadership, training, organizational, and time management skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Relocation may be required
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Manager in Training

Hastings Managers in Training are responsible for assisting with the management of the store by supervising and executing corporate plans and actions, creating a positive team atmosphere and increasing sales by utilizing company financial reports. The Manager in Training is considered to be an on the job training position for the Store Manager position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales revenue
  • Support the Store Manager with day-to-day store operations to achieve targeted productivity, sales, and profitability goals
  • Assist the Store Manager in providing overall direction for the staff in terms of training and performance tracking
  • Maintain awareness of competitors and their promotions and offerings
  • Oversee store personnel and ensure all corporate policies and procedures are followed
  • Ensure associates keep stores clean, well organized, and properly merchandised
  • Complete the MIT program within the prescribed time

Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma (some college course preferred)
  • 2 years retail assistant management experience
  • Experience in a specialty chain, discount, department or other mass merchandising store
  • Strong leadership, training, organizational, and time management skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Customer Service Manager

Hastings Customer Service Managers are responsible for the supervision and management of the front counter team leaders and associates working in the front counter area while maintaining a positive team atmosphere. Additionally, they are accountable for training associates and front counter team leaders to company guidelines; and maintaining the consistent execution of key personnel responsibilities. The CSM is responsible for ensuring the buyback process is handled in an efficient and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, maintains and supervises front counter customer service associates
  • Ensures customer satisfaction, thereby increasing sales
  • Responsible for effective execution of line management and efficient front counter operations
  • Ensures efficient and productive use of labor
  • Communicates associate evaluation deadlines to the responsible supervisors in a clear and timely manner
  • Ensures accurate completion of cash reporting
  • Increases rental video productivity by ensuring CTL’s manage correct drop box procedures and shelve videos in a timely manner
  • Ensures accurate completion of training materials
  • Delegates actions from SWAS tours with the Manager to CTL’s/CSA’s to complete
  • Ensures buybacks are processed quickly and accurately

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous management and hiring experience
  • One year customer service experience
  • Cash handling experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Full-time availability required
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs
