Smart
Searching Tips
|

- Enter specific questions to vastly improve your search results.
- Add search terms to narrow your results. Type at least two or three
search words. By using more keywords to narrow your search, you can locate the precise
items you wish to purchase.
- Be specific. Try to choose words that are unique to the item for
which you are searching. If you're looking for a product title that you think has five
words, enter all five words in your search. For instance, if you are searching for the
book, Shards of a Broken Crown, type all of the words. If you type only Shards, the
program will give you all the product with Shards in the product information, and you will
have to browse through them all to find the exact item that you want.
- Use a plus ( + ) to indicate a mandatory word, e.g.,
"+cruise". Other search words may be omitted as the search for further answers
progresses.
- Use a minus ( - ) to exclude words.
- Use a pipe ( | ) between alternatives; e.g., "maroon | brown |
beige".
- Use an asterisk ( * ) for a wildcard matching any number of
characters; try "BMW 318*".
- Use an underscore ( _ ) for words that should be close together;
e.g., "Indiana and the Temple_Doom".
- Wildcards are rarely needed, since IntuiFind automatically looks for
all word forms. "Bike" is better than "bik*" or "bike | biker |
bikers | biking".

At the top of every page you will find
two ways to search for the product you are looking for:

Quick Search |
|
|
This style of searching is the easiest
way to search, although it will not be as specific with its outcome. To look for a
particular item, just enter the title, name, or any keyword(s) that describe the product
you are looking for into the box and click on the Go button.You can also narrow the scope
of the search by selecting a specific department in which you wish to search from the
pull-down menu. |

Advanced Search |
|
|
To access the Advanced Search features, click
on the Advanced Search button. From here you have many options to help you narrow down a
search on a product you are looking for:
|
|
|
- Department: Choose between the following product types, depending on what you are looking
for: Books, Music, Video, DVD, Software, & Video Games.
- Keywords: If you are unsure of the exact name of the product you are looking for, try
typing in any descriptive words that you can think of or any words that you know are in
the title here. Select "Phrases" if your keywords search is a phrase.
- Title: If you know the title or name of the product you are looking for, type it here.
If you are searching for a music title by the song title only, please check the "Song
Title Only" box to improve your results.
- Contributor: Enter the name of the Author, Artist, Actor, or other person that you are
looking for.
- Contributor Role: Enter the role of the person/company you are searching for (e.g. author, artist,
producer, director).
- Category: If you know the category you are searching for (e.g. Classical,
Action/Adventure, Mystery) type it here.
- Format: Enter the format you are looking
for (e.g. VHS, Compact Disc).
- Barcode: If you know the exact UPC code
or the ISBN, if you are looking for a book, enter it here. This search will outweigh all
other searching features.
- Search Type: If you are unsure of the spelling that you entered in the Keywords section, you
may want to select the "Sounds Like" option here. Otherwise, select
"Contains".
- Search Out Of Stock Products: Checking this box allows you to search out of stock products as well.

Our Search Engine is not "case
sensitive". UPPER CASE, lower case & Mixed Case are all acceptable forms of text
entry and will have the same outcome.

Searching by
Department

Books |

To search for a particular book, either enter the title,
Author, ISBN, or any descriptive words about the book into the Quick Search at the top of
every page and click on the Go button. If you wish to refine your search, select
"Books" from the pull-down menu. Or you may click on the Advanced Search button,
click on the down arrow next to "Department:" and select
"Books". Then enter any of the following information that you know: The Author's
name goes in the "Contributor:" field. The title of the book
should be entered in the "Title:" field. Any words or phrases
that have to do with the book should go in the "Keywords:"
field. Or enter the book's ISBN into the "Barcode:" field and
click on the Search button to get your results.

Music |
|
|
|
To search for a particular compact disc or cassette,
either enter the title, Artist, UPC, or any descriptive words about the book into the
Quick Search at the top of every page and click on the Go button. If you wish to refine
your search, select "Music" from the pull-down menu. Or you may click on the
Advanced Search button, click on the down arrow next to "Department:"
and select "Music". Then enter any of the following information that you know:
The Artist's name goes in the "Contributor:" field. The title
of the album should be entered in the "Title:" field. Any words
or phrases that have to do with the album should go in the "Keywords:"
field. Or enter the album's UPC code into the "Barcode:" field
and click on the Search button to get your results.

Video & DVD |
|

To search for a particular video or DVD title, either
enter the title, Actor, Actress, or Director's name, UPC, or any descriptive words about
the video or DVD into the Quick Search at the top of every page and click on the Go
button. If you wish to refine your search, select either "Video" or
"DVD" from the pull-down menu. Or you may click on the Advanced Search button,
click on the down arrow next to "Department:" and select either
"Video" or "DVD". Then enter any of the following information that you
know: An Actor, Actress, or Director's name goes in the "Contributor:"
field. The title of the video should be entered in the "Title:"
field. Any words or phrases that have to do with the video should go in the "Keywords:"
field. Or enter the video's or DVD's UPC code into the "Barcode:"
field and click on the Search button to get your results.

Video Games |
|

To search for a particular video game, either enter the
title, Company name, UPC, or any descriptive words about the video game into the Quick

search, select "Games" from the pull-down menu. Or you may click on the Advanced
Search button, click on the down arrow next to "Department:"
and select "Video Games". Then enter any of the following information that you

search, select "Software" from the pull-down menu.

and select "Software". Then enter any of the following information that you

title of the software should be entered in the "Title:" field.
